Well-known East German composer, musician (accordion) and singer of traditional Folk-Songs (Folklore / Volksmusik); born December 14th, 1926 in Suhl, died October 17th, 1983 in Suhl, Germany. His most successful composition is "Das Rennsteiglied". Under the alias Matthias Wendt he wrote several "Schlager" (e.g. "Reisen, Reisen in die weite Ferne" for the Gerd Michaelis-Chor).
