The group started playing jazz and blues together in the late 60's when Don Carson (keyboards), Mike Kearsey (bass), and Mike Scavotto (drums) were still Beloit undergraduates. Bob Corbit, a saxophone player from the city of Beloit, rounded out the band, known then as the Don Carson Quartet.
