She is also the first non francophone Canadian woman to win this honour. She has also a collection of prestigious “Gemini” awards recognizing her talents as a television personality and as a first rate interviewer.With the arrival of the Musique Plus/Much Music television networks, Sonia became well known as their principal host and interviewer. To date Sonia has interviewed virtually the biggest names on the music scene from Paul McCartney to Sting to Tina Turner. Sonia speaks three languages fluently; English, French and Spanish and has made a trademark of translating between these languages with ease in her live interviews.The television show “Sonia Benezra” was the definitive Quebec Talk Show of the 90’s. At MusiMax she hosted a weekly show titled “Duo Benezra”, where she interviewed celebrities from all corners the world. Sonia also hosted the American television show “Famous Homes & Hideaways”, which played for several years in both Canada and internationally in both English and French.Sonia has hosted numerous TV Specials on both the CBC and CTV networks across Canada. She made her debut on radio as a reporter for the show “C’est Bien Meilleur Le Matin” (It is Much Better In the Morning), on the Radio Canada/CBC chain and not long afterward and was offered her own radio show“Carte Blanche” (Anything Goes) on 98.5 FM, the Number 1 talk radio station in Quebec. For three consecutive years she was the co-host of Montreal’s #1 English language Drive Show on Q92. Simultaneously she was on Quebec’s top morning show “Deux Filles le Matin” on the TVA network that was aired daily across Canada.Sonia is the first celebrity spokesperson for “Jenny Craig Canada” in the good company of Kirstie Alley, Jason Alexander and Mariah Carey in the USA.In the last two years Sonia hosted her own award nominated late night talk show called “Benezra Recoit”on the Musi Max Network She had the pleasure of receiving Gene Simmons, Shannon Tweed, Backstreet Boys, James Blunt, Good Charlotte and Lady Antebellum to name a few.In 2013 Sonia is setting her sights on new goals. Currently she is working on a biographical book looking back at her years in the industry that should be released later this year.
