Roberto Calero

Calero Piedrahita, Roberto Alfonso (El payador de Vinces) Vinces, Los Ríos, Ecuador 1943. Singer, songwriter. His grandfather was Emilio Piedrahita C., lyricist in the corridor Ojos que matan, with music by Nicasio Safadi. When he was a student, he started singing at social hours and festivities at school and college. In 1965, representing Vinces (land of Olimpo Cárdenas Moreira), he triumphed in Quevedo in Interprovincial Festival of Amateur Singers, for which he was invited to sing in the La Radial surprise of 11 of Radio Cristal de Guayaquil. Armando Romero, manager and owner of the mentioned station, called it "Payador de Vinces". In its beginnings he interpreted and recorded corridors traditional, then, continuing his singing career, he settled in Guayaquil, participating in multiple schedules and festivals. In the seventies, he dedicated himself to singing boleros in the rockolero style. He has recorded 50 45 RPM records, 16 LP records. and 16 compact discs. In national settings and international, he has alternated with Daniel Santos, Lucho Barrios, Alci Acosta, Rodolfo Aicardi, Tito Cortés, Pedrito Otiniano, Orlando Contreras and others. He was also deputy mayor of Vinces. His international tours span the United States of America and Canada, and his recordings include a preference for boleros, corridors and waltzes. Among his successes are the halls La Pena de mi viejo; and By God I love you so much; los boleros Red card; Bohemian and bacán; The tangerine; I will drink, I will drink, I will drink; and the waltz Letter to Heaven. He is a high representative and diffuser of the rock style.
