Soul singer from Aruba, moved to the Netherlands in 1966. At Aruba she sung spirituals in a local church. Her job in the Netherlands is laboratory analyst. In 1966 drummer Bart Terlaak en Ton van der Meer found soulband Moody Sec. The ask Linda Melcherts and Marva Hodge for the vocals en complete the band with bass player Dick Hoppe and Will Matla, solo guitar, both from the band The Black Albino's. End of 1967 their first single is released at the G.T.B. Studio, led by Q65 manager Wout van Soest. The A-side is Mocking Bird, sung by Marva Hodge, at the B-side Ballad Of A Waiting Man, written by Will Matla and Ton van der Meer sung by Ton, Jay Baar (Q65) on drums. In 1969 Moody Sec records Let The Sun Shine In. At the B-side an instrumental track, 00-43-GM Soon after this release the band fell apart. Marva Hodge releases two more 2 singles. Marva joins the soul band Soul Serenade in 1969. In 1970 this band turns into a symphonic rock band, Marva leaves the band. After that Marva gets married with Adolphus Richardson and they move to the island Sint Maarten (St Martin).
