Bracode

Bracode were pioneers of Sydney, Australia's inner west feminist punk scene. They were fronted on vocals by Zec Zechner, with Rebecca Mayhew on guitar, Jacquie Besgrove on bass and Erica Lewis on drums. Active from 1999 to 2009, Bracode were arguably Australia's most fierce all grrrl bands. They issued three releases with 'The Sound of Bracode', a 4-track demo, being their first. Their debut full-length LP '11097313' was infamously posted to the music industry as 1.5kg of frock wrapped in a 'vegan meat tray', with their final album '11924293' released in 2006. They shared stages with international artists: Sleater Kinney, The Dresden Dolls, Partyline (US) feat. seminal riot grrrl pioneer Allison Wolf, and Belters (Japan), plus riot grrrl band The Haggard (US). Tipping their fascinators Zec is now in seminal Melbourne post punk favs Plaster of Paris and a new wave synth band Double Vanity. Bec Mayhew and Jacqui Besgrove are with legendary rock band Babymachine ft. Kristy on bass and Trina on drums. Erica is a former drummer for Chicks On Speed (Germany).
