Mario Delli Ponti

Italian pianist: Milan, Italy, November 11 1931 - August 9 2010. Graduated in 1947, two years later he began in their city, Milan, with extraordinary success of public and critics. In 1956, twenty-five, he was invited by Arturo Toscanini to play in his home in Riverdale in New York. He won in London in 1957 the Bach Medal and in 1961 was named by Pablo Casals to play in Puerto Rico. Since then his career has taken on international dimensions and prestige. In Italy he played at the Teatro alla Scala and the Quartet Society of Milan, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, at the Maggio Musicale in Florence and at major festivals and musical institutions. Abroad, he has played in the US, Europe, Russia, Israel, Japan, China and South America. Very active in the field of chamber music in various formations, he has recorded with RCA, the Angelicum, and CDs for Foné, LoveLied, and Bongiovanni. In 1990 he was awarded the international prize "Madonnina", awarded earlier musicians such as Von Karajan and Gavazzeni. In 2001 he held in New York a series of master classes at Carnegie Hall. In May 2003 he received from the President of the Republic medal worthy of Culture and Arts.
