Peter Halling

Australian classical cello player and teacher. Born in Rowella, Tasmania, Australia. His family relocated to England on the eve of the 2nd World War. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music. Original player of Quartet Pro Musica (1955). Peter Halling (and his brother, Patrick Halling) were part of George Martin's 'go-to' string section for The Beatles. They played on "Yesterday", "Eleanor Rigby" etc. He taught at the Royal Academy of Music. Father of Rod Halling.
