Born in La Plata, Argentina, Raul Eduardo Pereyra grew up listening to tango, military marches and classical music, genres cultivated at home by his parents. At the age of 12, he received a guitar from his mother, studied the instrument in a conservatory, composed his first song and took the stage for the first time, at the Teatro Coliseo Podestá, in the Argentine city. He came to Rio Grande do Sul in the 1970s and became one of the main names in regional music, winning 39 festivals during his musical career. He also participated in groups such as Os Tropeiros do Ibirapuitã, alongside Leopoldo Rassier and José Cláudio Machado. Among his hits are "O Homem Que Esqueceu De Deus" ("The man who forgot God"), in partnership with Jose Fernando Gonzalez, and "Brasilhana", with Robson Barenho.
