Jean Desire Artot

1822-1905 A pupil of his father Maurice, became a hornist in the thirty-first regiment of the French army at the age of sixteen. In 1823 he joined the Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels and then in 1829 succeeded his father as first hornist in the Royal Orchestra. He published a number of series of twelve quartets each for valve horns.
