Born in La Plata (Argentina) in 1940. Agudo studied at the Musical Conservatory of the city of the Plata and learned to play percussions since the age of fourteen, under Antonio Yepes's guide. In 1965, living in a favela in Morro do Salgueiro, integrated into a local family and community, has had the possibility to discover the authentic nature and the origins of the Brazilian folklore. “Dona Fia” is a homage of Agudo to the woman who has received him like a son during his permanence there. Agudo has performed several exhibitions in 24 countries with Dizzy Gillespie, Luter Allison, Philly Jo Jones, Steve Grossman, Glen Ferris, Robin Kenyatta, Jimmy Knepper, Bobby Watson, Victor Lewis, Arfang Kouyate, Julius Farmer, Sonny Taylor and many others. In 1984 he has released the great "Afrosamba" and, in 1990 has formed a duo together with the italian pianist Franco D'Andrea, recording "Enronsadira" for Red Records (Italy). From 1991 to the spring of the 1998, has lived in Chile; in these years, has been able, compatibly with the other musical engagements, to study and to deepen his acquaintance of the Latin American rhythms, with frequent travels in the surrounding countries (Uruguay, Perù, Bolivia, Colombia, etc). Since 1998, Luis Agudo moved to Italy and his musical activity continued to develope.
