Ora Lee Hopkins

Ora Lee Hopkins was a gospel vocalist. She was known for her commanding singing style and was locally regarded as the “Midwest Gospel Queen.” She was a member of the Willie Webb Singers, and in 1947 joined the original Robert Anderson And His Gospel Caravan as a founding member and backing singer. From 1951 to 1954, she served in Albertina Walker’s The Caravans (2). Ora Lee served as the director of the city’s New Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church choir until her death in 2000.
