Redwood City, California Karla Kane is a songwriter, singer, arts journalist, ukulele player, Californian, Anglophile, mama, vegetarian, Scorpio, INFJ and inner archaeologist. Best known as the leader of the indie-pop group The Corner Laughers, her debut solo album is the folk-influenced "King's Daughters Home For Incurables." She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, dreams of Great Britain, plays in several bands, edits the arts section of a local newspaper and shares her home with several mammals. She received a bachelor's degree in archaeology and Italian studies from Saint Mary's College of California and a master's degree in environmental anthropology from the University of Wales. Karla Kane is an award-winning writer and current arts editor of The Palo Alto Weekly. She's also written for Bitch Media, Metro Silicon Valley and other publications. Some of her topics of interest include theater, music, fine art, literature, feminism, artificial intelligence, science, the environment, early childhood, pop culture, ancient history, and time travel.
