Edwin C. Kirkland

English professor who collected field recordings of folk songs in the Knoxville, Tennessee, area as well as North Carolina (the home state of his wife, Mary Kirkland). Essentially all of the field recordings were made between 1937 and early 1940. In 1946, he left the University of Tennessee to teach at the University of Florida.
