Robin Lai

Robin Lai Plays the violin, keyboards and is also the sound engineer of Bhoomi. The credit for setting up sound within a very short span of a few minutes is his doing. Robin is a self-taught pianist and a violinist, performing since school. He started learning piano pieces by Chopin and Beethoven. His musical influences include The Beatles, Carole King, ABBA and Pat Metheny. He qualified for the Trinity College Grade IV and played the piano for the Calcutta Foundation Orchestra under Fran Caterini. Claims to be interested in contemporary folk because he has already “done” classical, rock and jazz. A computer whiz, he is best appreciated for his easygoing attitude and witty remarks. One of the most talented and well-respected musicians, Robin joined Bhoomi in 1999 as the sound engineer. At that time he was with the Rock Band Krosswindz and also played violin and keyboards with the Jazz-Rock band Chlorophyll Dreams. Soon, he started playing the violin and later the keyboards for Bhoomi. As a sound engineer, he has designed and executed sound for musicals including Smike, The Piper, Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, The King and I and The Phantom of the Opera. Robin is considered one of the best Sound engineers in India. He works at Radio Mirchi and has completed 21 years in the FM Radio industry since joining Times FM in 1994.
