Yasushi Haketa is a Japanese jazz trumpet player, composer, and arranger. He was born on December 5, 1970 in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture. He started playing the piano at the age of 3 and the trumpet at the age of 12. He started composing and arranging around that time. He started working as a jazz trumpet player at a live house in Tokyo while attending the University of Tokyo. So far, he has not only participated in the performances of representative big bands in Japan such as Toshiyuki Miyama & New Hard and Kenichi Tsunoda big band, but has also participated in the Japan tour of the Duke Ellington Orchestra in 2006. Currently, in addition to regularly participating in Toshio Mori & Blue Coats, he is also active as a leader of the big band "Koji Hakeda Big Band". In addition to performing at Yuji Miyake & Light Joke Jazz Orchestra, which started in 2007, he is also in charge of music direction, composition and arrangement. Additionally, he has provided composition and arrangement works to various bands such as Toshio Mori & Blue Coats, Takeshi Inomata Jazztet, EGO-WRAPPIN', and Tokyo Brass Style.
