Dirck Janszoon Sweelinck

Dirck Janszoon Sweelinck (b Amsterdam, bap. May 26, 1591; d Amsterdam, Sept 16, 1652). Dutch organist, composer and music editor, son of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. He was a pupil of his father, never married, and was organist of the Oude Kerk, Amsterdam, from his father's death in 1621 until his own (though not before the post had been offered to, and rejected by, the blind Pieter Alewijnszoon de Vois, another Sweelinck pupil).
