American vocalist, accordionist, bandleader, and broadcaster (November 1, 1921-August 2, 2011). Raised in Oelwein, Iowa, he began his professional musical career at age 15. He played with Don Sievert & The Texans Uncle Elmer & His Daffy Doodlers, and other bands before joining Sheriff Tom Owen & His Cowboys. He formed his own group, Leo & The Pioneers, which eventually became the Leo Greco band. They recorded several albums and a regionally popular single, "Little Red Wagon". The organization incorporated a fair amount of polka into its country & western repertoire. They were voted by Downbeat magazine's National Ballroom Association as the nation's top "Country And Western Dance" band for at least the years 1957-1960. During this part of his career, "Kent Seeds presents the Leo Greco Show” was aired on six television stations in Iowa and Illinois and 23 radio stations. Beginning in 1972 he began his longtime Sunday morning WMT-AM radio show, "Variety Time," which lasted nearly four decades. In 2010, he was selected for the Marconi Award for Small Market Personality Of The Year" by the NAB.
