Canadian band from Vancouver, BC, led by Art Bergman active 1984-1987, when they became Showdogs (2). Initially a loose collection of former bandmates and other Vancouver musicians brought together by Bergmann to record the Poisoned demos in February - May of 1984, Poisoned eventually stabilized with a live lineup of Bergmann (guitar, vocals), Ted Rich (2) (guitar), Fred Hamilton (4) (Keyboards), Taylor Nelson Little (drums), and Murray Andrishak (bass). Rich left early on, leaving Bergmann as the only guitar player. Hamilton also left, replaced by Tom Upex on Keyboards. Backing vocalist Virginia McKendry was added to the lineup, and Ray Fulber started managing the group and took them to the studio to record the Poisoned EP. McKendry left in 1985, before the EP's release. Upex and Andrishak left after a 1986 Canadian tour, replaced by Susann Richter on keyboards & vocals and Fulber on bass. The lineup of Bergmann, Fulber, Little, and Richter would stay together from 1986 to 1991, playing live and recording the Poisoned demos and Bergmann's first two solo albums, Crawl With Me and Sexual Roulette, changing their name to Showdogs (2) along the way. The group dissolved in the fall of 1991. in 2009, Fulber released an expanded collection of 1986 demos as Lost Art Bergmann: Poisoned Sessions, and the group, joined by Anthony "Tony Balony" Walker on guitar, reunited for a Vancouver show on March 26 of that year. Art Bergmann and Poisoned were the first band ever interviewed on video by John Ruskin (later known as Nardwuar The Human Serviette), in 1985.
