In 1988 LUCHTEN was founded in the original line-up: Samuel Beck (Voc/Git), David Beck (Git), Richard Putz (Voc/Key), Sascha Giebichenstein (Bass), Olli Safadi (Drums). Jan Rase (Sax/Key) joined the band in the first three years and Richard left the band. They provided the music for the artistry shows "Power" and "Body Spirit" under the direction of Markus Pabst at the Ufa-Fabrik Berlin. LUCHTEN toured Germany and France several times, took second place in the German Rock Award' 91 and won her first CD-production. A year later, they won the German final of the "Yamaha Band Explosion" and flew to Japan for the world final "Music Quest' 92", where a Japanese player won. In 1994 they released a live CD and began to write their songs in German. They composed the music for the opening ceremony of the German Gymnastics Festival, which they performed in front of 100,000 spectators on Hamburg's Binnenalster. In 1996 bassist Sascha left the band, Thomas Hoppe came for it. In the same year they brought the German-language CD "Was?" out. However, LUCHTEN's musicians worked intensively on new projects of their own. Samuel founded "Die Bengels" together with Richard and Olli and sang "Acapulla"in the a cappella group. 1997 LUCHTEN dissolved.
