Sound engineer and sound designer from New York, New York, USA. Smith started his career as a receptionist, tape duper, and disc cutter at Dick Charles Recording Inc. before moving to The Hit Factory in 1978. There he worked with a variety of artists including Art Garfunkel, B.B. King, Hall & Oates, The Village People, Tim Curry, Blondie, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Nicks, Bob Seger, Boz Scaggs, Yoko Ono and John Lennon. After leaving The Hit Factory in the mid-1980s Smith went on to work with Kenny G, Leonard Cohen, Judy Collins, Dixie Carter, Marlo Thomas, and Harry Belafonte, among others. Starting in 1987, he took a turn into recording jingles, first as chief engineer at HEA Productions, then at HB&B Productions and finally as a freelance engineer. During these years he recorded and mixed hundreds of jingles for companies such as Burger King, McDonald's, The Army, AT&T, Jello, Cheerios, Budweiser, and Ford. From 1994 to 1997 Smith mixed the music for a cartoon show, The Tick for Fox. Since then he has worked as a music mixer on several other cartoon shows, including Courage the Cowardly Dog, Space Racers, and Peg + Cat.
