Mammal Machine is a Japanese psychedelic/space/krautrock supergroup, formed in 2010 by four Japanese musicians with international acclaim: London-based Yumi Hara-Cawkwell (vocals & keyboards) who has collaborated with many prog giants such as Hugh Hopper (ex-Soft Machine), Geoff Leigh, Chris Cutler, John Greaves (ex-Henry Cow) and David Cross (ex-King Crimson), Mitsuru Tabata (Leningrad Blues Machine, Acid Mothers Temple, Zeni Geva) on guitar, Yasuyuki Watanabe (drums & percussion) from a trance/psychedelic rock band Mandog, and Rie Miyazaki, who gained a reputation of a 'roaring bass player' while she was in Marble Sheep. The 'Mammal Machine' name is derived from various band and projects which Yumi, Tabata, Watanabe and Rie have been involved with: Soft Machine and Leningrad Blues Machine vs Henry Cow, Mandog and Marble Sheep – all mammals.
