Toni Darnay

Died Wednesday 5th, 1983, age 61, from lung cancer. Stage, television, film and radio specialist actress, best known for her radio work in the early 1950's. She gained fame in 1937 when as Mercy Mustell, age 18, she sued a director E. R. John in court for the return of 2x $25 payments for a part in a movie, which she never got. The director, agreed in court to return the money. Twice married, first to Bill Hoffman writer, and later to Hobe Morrison, theatrical columnist for the Heralds-News and Variety Magazine. Later in her life, after her second marriage, her legal name was Mercy Morrison. Mother to noted defense lawyer, Darnay Hoffman, whose high-profile clients included subway vigilante Bernhard Goetz and infamous child-killer, Joel Steinberg.
