Iracema Cabral Botelho (stage name Melissa) (Rio de Janeiro, July 21, 1962) is a Brazilian singer, songwriter and evangelical writer. Melissa converted to Protestantism in 1990 at the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. In 1991, she participated in a music competition at her church, being discovered by a pastor representing Line Records. In 1991 he released his first LP entitled Voz do Coração. Two years later, in 1993 he released the album Razão de Viver. The title song gained notoriety in churches and appeared on the best radio stations in the country, being widely distributed on the Record channel. In 1995 he released De Bem com a Vida, his first work in compact disc format. This album established her as a singer in the gospel music market, establishing her as a composer and presenting her with several awards across the country. In 1997 he released the album Heróis da Fé, considered by critics as his best album.[citation needed] In 1999 he released the CD Agindo Deus. In 2001, Melissa released the album 10 Anos with re-recordings of her biggest hits. In 2002 he released his second album Vitória e Domínio with the Melissa Gospel label. In 2004 he signed with Zekap Gospel and released the album Sol da Justiça. In 2005, he released his first live record. In the same year he released the album Se creres Verás on Line Records. After almost three years without recording, he released the album Seja Constante in 2008, his seventh with the Line Records label. In 2015, after 7 years without launching a new project, Melissa recorded the album Confiança.
