Chrétienni

Flemish comic and singer. Died in 1921 in Belgium. He formed the duo "Chrétienni & Louisette" with Louisette, his housekeeper. He saw talent in her and took her as his assistant. Louisette (Louisa Augusta Geijtenbeek) was especially in the years ten, twenty, thirty and forty of the 20th century known as the Dutch Mistinguett. She acted as comedian, singer and actress. Louisette also performed in so-called silent films. In 1910 Chrétienni devised a new act called "From Peasant To Artist": the two were filmed (at the time a super modern technology) as two peasants. In the images they are running through the entire country and overcome several obstacles. The movie was shown in the theatre and in the end you saw the two at the door of the theatre and at the right time they ran into the room and put the act through on stage. A huge success. Such a big success that they crossed the border soon with their new act. From Germany to England and from France to America, they performed everywhere.
