Ecuadorian composer born on November 5, 1909. His primary studies were carried out in a small fiscal school in his neighborhood, and secondary in the Vicente Rocafuerte National School where he completed up to the 4th. year; Well then he decided to leave the classrooms to dedicate himself to music. At seventeen years of age he entered the School of Music of the Guayas Philanthropic Society, where after four years he finished and went out reading music and playing guitar. Later, in 1942 he began to study double bass at the Angelo Negri Academy of Music, and after five years he had become a true master of this instrument, possibly the best that Ecuador had for many years. He composed more than fifty memorable "Pasillos" (ecuadorian typical music genre), musicalizing the verses of notable poets and writers: Such is the case of "Lirios Marchitos" (Martín de la Selva), "Piedad" and "Al Oído" (PE Rivadeneira), "Torturas" (César Andrade and Cordero), "El Ultimo Beso", "El Dolor del Olvido" and "La Canción del Dolor" (Armando Martínez Guerrero), "Amanecer Cordial" and "Soledad" (Medardo A. Silva), and many more that were performed by the best and most popular Ecuadorian artists. He also composed countless songs in other varied rhythms. His entire life was dedicated to composition and music, until the day of his death, which occurred in Guayaquil on May 11, 1968, at the age of fifty-eight.
