David Branson

English classical pianist, composer and writer (born July 13, 1909 in Kings Lynn, Norfolk - died April 18, 1997 in Hastings). Branson made his debut as a pianist in London in 1920, at age 11. In 1921, he performed for the later Japanese Emperor, Hirohito, then Crown Prince, and his Princess, when they made a state visit to the UK. Between 1927 and 1931, he studied piano with Harold Samuel (2) and composition with John Ireland at the Royal College Of Music in London, and then started a career as a professional pianist. Branson composed dozens of piano pieces and songs and recorded for Columbia and RCA Victor.
