Тетяна Ярова

Tetyana Yarova (born 1953) is a Ukrainian composer and songwriter who has written over 300 songs. A native of Mykolayiv, Ukraine, she is an Honored Artist of Ukraine, a member of the Ukrainian Composer's Union and a winner of a number of international competitions. Tetyana's mother was a teacher of Ukrainian language and literature, her father was a well-known engineer and inventor. After finishing studies at a music school and then Mykolayiv Higher College in 1973, Tatyana then taught conducting at the college. In 1975 she entered the Odesa conservatorium, studying under professor O. Krasotov. While studying she also worked at the Odesa Theatre of Musical Comedy, where she wrote musical comedies. In 1984 Tetyana Yarova was accepted in the Ukrainian Composer's Union. In 2001 she founded a municipal theater of popular music for youth. Many former students of this theater have won national and international prizes. Tetyana's daughter Olha, is a jazz vocalist.
