He was the night mayor of Leeuwarden(fryslan the netherlands ) but was also a blues and rock and roll musician He was given the name Jan Giro for working for a while at the Post and Girobank. He sang, played guitar and piano, he was influenced mainly by the music of Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. In the seventies he played with Johnny and the Rebels. In June 2001, he released a cd from "Rock and Roll in your veins" with songs such as "Lonesome", "When the blues goes around" and "Baby got me rollin". He also played with Jan Akkerman, Harry "Cuby" Muskee and Normal. He was also famous in the Leeuwarden pub life his humor and his raw beer consumption.Jan Giro died at the age of 49,
