Linda Smith (6)

English comedian, born 29 January 1958 and died 27 February 2006. Known for her stand-up and radio comedy career, Smith was voted "Wittiest Living Person" by listeners of the BBC Radio 4 programme "Word of Mouth" in 2002. She was known for her appearances on The News Quiz, Just A Minute, and I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue, as well as her own programme. A Brief History of Timewasting, which ran for two series. Smith died from ovarian cancer in 2006, three and a half years after her diagnosis with the disease.
