Johnny Stein (2)

American jazz drummer, born June 15, 1891 or 1895, died September 30, 1962 in New Orleans. Formed a band in New Orleans in 1915, took the band to Chicago in 1916, then moved to New York, joining the pianist Jimmy Durante's Original New Orleans Jazz Band 1918-1919, recorded with the band in 1920. Continued to perform as a leader and with other bands in New York and Chicago before returning to New Orleans in 1961.
