João Manuel

Author of the Futebol Clube Do Porto March and creator of the Marchas de São João in Porto, João Manuel Borges Antão, known as João Manuel, born in Ramalde, Porto, on 14 March 1921, died on 16 March 1922, aged 101. The 'dragons' remembering "one of the great names of the culture of the Invicta city and Portugal" In addition to the connection to the 'dragons', which was also felt in the collaboration with the newspaper O Porto, the emblem's official organ during the 20th century, he was a figure present in the city. He was the author of the Marchas de São João and directed the satirical radio program “A Voz dos Ridículos”, having received the Gold Medal of Merit from the Porto City Council and a tribute from the parish of Ramalde, where he was born. He was also awarded by the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic, with the National Order of Merit, at the time awarded by Jorge Sampaio, and by the Portuguese Society of Authors.
