Savates Jaunes

Tahitian group featuring organist Axel and Tepa on lead vocals with Charles Vernaudon on guitar. Other members were Australian drummer Lionel Kennedy and Fijian bass guitarist Gucake Lasaisuva aka Gilman Lasaisuva. They were regular at the Hotel Taaone in Papeete in the late 1960s, playing six nights a week.Under Axel's diretion, they recorded an album Taaone Ambiance for Yves Roche's Manuiti record label. The album was a mix of Tahitian songs and r&b, rock songs. In the early 1960s, [a3276274] sang with a group of the same name. Jerry Vernaudon and Emile Vernaudon played with the ensembe in the 1970s.
