Pseudonym for Porter Grainger, American jazz pianist, bandleader and songwriter. Born: October 22, 1891 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Died: 1954 (or) 1955 (not confirmed). Grainger worked with Bob Ricketts (pianist) and the blues singers Viola McCoy, Clara Smith, Victoria Spivey, Mamie Smith, and Bessie Smith. His orchestra, the Get Happy Band, is known for having made eight recordings. In the 1940s his traces are lost.
