Joseph Sciacchitano

Cellist, born 1913, died 22 May 2009 in Chicago, Illinois. Joseph "Sam" Sciacchitano was a member of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in 1937, joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1943 but left shortly afterward to work with the WGN Symphony Orchestra. That orchestra disbanded in the mid-1950s and he went on to play as principal cellist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra before going back to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1961. He retired from the orchestra in 1983.
