Ray Anthony (6)

Barbershop lead vocalist, choral director, and vocal coach. Ray was a two time South Western District quartet champion with the Esquires (1957) and the Checkmarks (1963) as well as a stint singing with the Stage Door Four. He appeared on the international stage in a quartet five times. As a choral director, he appeared on the international stage six times. He directed the Chordsmen from 1958 to the late 1960’s placing as high as 7th in the international contest. He moved to Dallas in the late-60’s and directed the Dallas Town North chapter chorus for a little while in 1970. He started directing the new “Vocal Majority” chorus in 1971. He won the district with them in 1973 and took them to a third place bronze medal in 1974. Ray passed away on December 14, 2011 at the age of 88.
