Johann Christoph Assman

Jan Assmann (originally Johann Christoph Assmann; born July 7, 1938 in Langelsheim) is a German Egyptologist. He was until 2003 a full professor of Egyptology in Heidelberg and since 2005 Honorary Professor of Cultural and Religious Theory at the University of Konstanz. He is married to Aleida Assmann.
