Flutist born in France in 1977. From 2001 to 2006, he dedicated himself to North Indian classical music and the Bansuri (side-blown flute traditionally made of bamboo), under the guidance of the living legend Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, at the Vrindaban Gurukul in Mumbai (Bombay), India. In 2011, Guillaume Barraud starts the band Kārvān Trio along with French pianist Mathieu Bélis and Iranian percussionist Mossy Amidi Fard : their first album, "Azar", is released in 2013 on Buda Records. In 2012, he records for the soundtrack of the french documentary film "Le Destin De L’Inde", by Laurent Jaoui (Arte), and in 2014 for the movie "Timbuktu", by Abderrahmane Sissako. In 2015, he starts his eponymous quartet with guitarist Tam De Villiers, drummer Xavier Rogé and bassist Johann Berby : the album "Arcana : The Indo-Jazz Sessions" is released on Riverboat Records in 2018. Guillaume Barraud works as a permanent staff artist in hospital, and at the Philharmonie de Paris for educational concerts. He is also a devoted and experienced music teacher.
