Об исполнителе:
Austrian singer (baritone), voice teacher, and composer (born January 15, 1862 – died July 2, 1918 in Vienna, Austria). Gärtner was Hofsänger (court singer) at the Imperial Court in Vienna. He recorded with the Gramophone Company as early as 1899. Among his voice students were Kammersänger Franz Xaver Rossi (1866-after 1902) and Victor Heim (1878-1942). As a composer, Gärtner wrote the music to Victor León's operetta "Die verwunschene Prinzessin" (1901). He is best remembered, however, as the writer of dance melodies that have served others as the basis of transcriptions. The best known of these is the violinist Fritz Kreisler's "Aus Wien," followed by arrangements of dances made by the great pianist Ignaz Friedman.
