They were influenced by many bands like Blink 182, Bright Eyes, Snow Patrol, and more. The band has made strides in the local scene by creating a complex musical sound with their energetic stage presence. Through their travels and triumphs, Hometown Anthem has drawn strength from the bond they share, on stage and off. It was because of those performances that the band was chosen over 12,000 other bands for inclusion on the Ernie Ball compilation cd 13 Of The Best Unsigned Bands In North America (Warcon Records, 2006). They released their first song (The Oxygen Intoxicant) on a compilation album called “Punk The Clock'' on December 28, 2004. The band will star in another compilation album the leading year with the same song in “Drive-Thru Records And Purevolume.com: Bands You Love, Have Heard Of, And Should Know,” on February 8, 2005. The band would write new songs (Best Friends, Sealed By Lipstick, Unexpected, So Long As You're in the Mood, Who Ever Said I Was Trying) although said songs will not reappear to future projects, more songs are known to exist but are unavailable to the public. The band signed into Emerald Moon Records and released of their debut album “Don't Hold On To What You Hear” on July 19, 2005 and their follow-up ep “If We Could Dream” on September 26, 2006. They'll also appear in "Beyond [The] Blue" featuring Four Year Strong, The Spotlight, Every Avenue, and more in October 3, 2007. After five years playing together, they disbanded in 2007. The vocalist of the band, Joseph Crawford, will form another band called "The Tonight Life" in 2008.
