A small orchestra consisting of 16 musicians in the beginning which was located in Freiburg and affiliated with the Southwest German broadcaster Südwestfunk (SWF). Founded in December 1946 and dissolved in 1970, the orchestra was directed in its first years of existence by Franz Hauck, before in April 1951 Willi Stech took over. The musical focus of the orchestra was on all facets of light music.
