American jazz vocalist who worked in New York and Europe, including Barcelona, Berlin, and London. In England she worked in cabarets, and the musical Hair in 1968. In 1969 she made the headlines by auditioning for The Black and White Minstrel Show to protest the point that they wouldn't cast real black people. Born: 1926 Died: 1974 in Ibiza
