American vocalist and dancer from Chicago After high school, Rodgers joined the USO as an entertainer, singing and dancing for the troops overseas during the last years of WWII. Later, she toured the East Coast as a member of a traveling chorus line. After returning home, she joined a popular jazz and swing singing quartet, The Meadowlarks (5). She married one of the members, Maury Jackson, in the late 1940s. With the Meadowlarks, Rodgers made several records for the Chicago-based Chance Records (3), and performed on radio and television during the 1950s and 60s. During the late 60s and 70s, she sang and voiced television jingles for Budweiser and others. She also appeared in numerous commercials.
