Chris Sharpe is the Visiting Assistant Professor of Trombone at Murray State University. He has previously held positions at the University of Central Arkansas and Hendrix College. Chris holds DMA and MM degrees in Trombone Performance from the University of North Texas as well as a BM in Trombone Performance and Music Education from the University of Tennessee. Chris’s performance experience includes performances with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Opera Orchestra, Dallas Wind Symphony, Colorado MahlerFest Orchestra, and three years with the GRAMMY-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band. He can be heard on recordings with the One O’Clock Lab Band, the Two O'Clock Lab Band, the Toshi Clinch Big Band, the Keith Karns Big Band, and Natalie Mannix. Chris is the founder of C. Sharpe Editions, a sheet music publishing company specializing in music for solo trombone and trombone ensembles; he is an avid composer and arranger under the name Chris M. Sharpe, and his compositions have performed at events such as the International Trombone Festival, the International Women's Brass Conference, and the American Trombone Workshop. You can hear his composition "Appalachian Fantasy" on the Carolina Trombone Project's album "Mountain Ascent," and his composition "Apogee Fanfare" on the upcoming album "Sempre Avanti" from the University of Central Arkansas Natural Slides Trombone Ensemble.
