Dogan Ur

Dogan UR, studied Graphical Arts at the Mimar Sinan University (MSU) in Istanbul. His first work, as an illustrator, was for Blue Jean Magazine; still the most popular youth and music magazine of Turkey! Choosing to follow the path of a free spirit and becoming a freelance artist, his comics have been published in much reputable magazines such as R&R magazine, Tempo (Turkish), Schwermetall since. Among other remarkable achievements of Dogan are his comics-booklet distributed with the Mobidik Magazine (2003), The Trojan War cover illustration for National Geographic (2004) and the animals illustrations for HP computers, which received the annual Best Work award within HP. Dogan's talent attracted the interest of Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam, the singer, songwriter whose album illustrations have been seminal to his music throughout his career. As a result, Dogan has been invited to contribute to Yusuf's recent pop albums, providing the CD illustrations and poster work for "An Other Cup", CD Illustrations for "Roadsinger", as well as drawing the cower art and CD illustrations for Yoriyos' album "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee". Yusuf's recent UK tour in 2009, previewing his forthcoming Moonshadow musical also saw Dogan's art debut in front of UK art lovers. The tour with Dogan?s illustrations on the stage backdrop and the tour booklet, closed in front of a capacity crowd at the famous Royal Albert Hall. His work will soon return to UK stages when later this year Cat Stevens/Yusuf's Moonshadow musical will be launched in the West End, to the listening and viewing pleasure of musical lovers from all around the world. An artist of many talents, Dogan also plays guitar and is the lead singer of the Turkish semi-professional band, White Shadows.
