Hubert Waldner

Hubert "Hubsi" Waldner is an Austrian saxophonist, flute player, composer, bandleader and music teacher born 9 May 1953 in Mauthen, Austria. Founded the Austrian Jazz band Hypersax, and appeared several times in the line up bands of Austrian contestant to the Eurovision Song Contest. Founded the Vienna School Act in the early 1980ies, an annual event where the best school bands of vienna play, and a prominent austrian musician plays the headliner gig with a viennese school band (or a selection of the best musicians from various viennese school bands). He appeared as a sideman for various Austrian singers and groups (Opus, Wolfgang Ambros, Reinhard Fendrich, et. al.), and internationally with Tangerine Dream (Tour and album appearances), Steve Vai (a live CD appearance in 2000). Opened the Donauinselfest (the largest annual free outdoor concert event of Europe) in 2000 with his band Hypersax, which was recorded by the ORF (Austrian public broadcasting company).
