Robert Bagar (1899-1957) - pianist, critic, translator, writer on music. Co-author of 'The Concert Companion' and the 'Victor Book of the Opera' Born 12 January 1899, died 6 March 1957 USA New York Bronx. 1907-1918 studied music privately, piano with Gaetano Merola and Alberto Sciarretti, composition with Domenico Sodero and Cesare Sodero. 1919-1922 studied at Fordham University New York, 1923-1925 at the Flower Medical School, 1926 at Fordham Law School New York. 1933 assistant music critic to Pitts Sanborn and 1941-1955 music critic for the New York World-Telegram, 1941-1949 program annotator for the Philharmonic-Symphony Society. 1947 co-author of 'The Concert Companion' Whittlesey House and 1949 editor of the 'Victor Book of the Opera' Simon & Schuster, 1952 contributor to the New Yorker Magazine. 1942-1957 residing at 2440 Tiebout Avenue Bronx. Son of tailor/theatre agent Anthony A Bagarozy (Italy, San Fele 20 Sep 1872 - 8 Nov 1931 Manhattan) and Maria Conti (Italy 1880-). 28 June 1927 in Manhattan he married Laura Boldt (28 Sep 1898 - Nov 1973 Bronx)
