Outstanding Mexican composer of almost 200 songs. Rubén Méndez Del Castillo was born in Pénjamo, Guanajuato, Mexico on October 28, 1910. He passed away on February 22, 1983 in Mexico City, Mexico. He was the son of Samuel Méndez Hernández and Dolores del Castillo Rodríguez. Being an announcer in 1935 at XEB and XEK, he presented his first songs. In 1948 Rubén accidentally met Mr. Mariano Rivera Conde Artistic Director of RCA Víctor, in a meeting who, upon hearing some of his songs, invited him to take some of his production, immediately recording: “Con un polvo y otro polvo”, “Copa tras copa”, “Crucecita” and others, with great success. In 1950 he premiered the song “El agente viajero”, he also announces the melody “Pénjamo”, originally performed by Fernando Rosas and Mariachi Vargas. Among his most successful songs are: “Café con piquete”, “Pénjamo”, “Copa tras copa”, “Zacazonapan” (awarded in 1971), “Cartas a Eufemia”, “Nochecitas Mexicanas”, “El Papalote”, "Con un polvo y otro polvo”, etc.
