American Soul singer and musician. Born January 23, 1951, Inkster, Michigan. Johnny Haygood was his stepfather, who recorded and released his stepson's music on Jacklyn Records label. At the age of three, his family moved to Chicago, where his mother married Haygood. He adopted Darrow and would help Johnny when he made his recording debut, aged just fourteen. Started singing when he was 6 years old. Cousin of Rose Batiste. He charted three times as a singer and twice as a songwriter on the U.S. charts, first with "The Pain Gets a Little Deeper". The song, which was co-written by Fletcher and Ted Daniels, hit #89 overall and #23 on the R&B chart. "I Think I'm Gonna Write a Song" in 1970 hit #47 R&B and "We've Got to Get an Understanding" hit #99 in 1976 and was also co-written by Fletcher, this time with Joel Webster.
