FWF

FWF, or Fabien W. Furter, is a sound artist and musician of electronic/instrumental music, based in Nancy, France. His style ranges from industrial music, experimental to ambient music, a sort of unexpected encounter between Stockhausen and Coil in a David Lynch movie. A poetry of Oddness. Biography FWF, or Fabien W. Furter, is a musician and sound artist based in Nancy (region Lorraine), France. Originally trained for 11 years at the Conservatory of Rochefort, then in Nancy where he studied cello, FWF interrupted his training, because he was not in agreement with the aesthetic dictates of the moment. He made in 2009 with some friends the independent band WHEELFALL, a major player in the French stoner-doom scene, first in total rupture with the so-called “art music”, then becoming a more complex entity thereafter. In 2012, Sunruin Records, record label founded by Pauline Talon, Nicolas Jacquot and FWF with a “direct-to-fans” dynamic, is created in order to provide total freedom for the bands they sign. In the end of 2013, FWF feel the need to revive his “academic” knowledge, and blend with them its recent musical experiences. First profoundly influenced by Bartók, Debussy, Stockhausen and Ligeti in particular, and afterwards by Nine Inch Nails, Coil, Swans, Ministry, Brian Eno and the astonishing David Bowie’s “Low” face B, Tim Hecker, FWF is searching for a new form of modernity through his music, taking inspirations from science, the works of William S. Burroughs (the cut-up technique, for example), the Surrealists, as well as from the Pierre Boulez’s theories of and of course Nietzsche, whose the reading was very memorable for him. 2014 seems to be a very busy and creative year for Fabien W. Furter: the recording of the next WHEELFALL’s album is planned for July, in addition to his recent arrival in death/black metal band PHAZM at bass guitar. Concerning FWF, he releases a first EP “Incipit Contradictio” followed by the album named “Skeptics” in July.
